SUN MORNING - PARADISE

Sunday morning, after the reunion, we enjoyed our short trip to Paradise.
The country side was beautiful but more than just the beauty of the green grass, green trees, the small hills, the valleys and the memories of being over that highway many times, we saw 2 cottonwood trees that mother nature had laid to the ground waiting for a woodcarver to strip the thick bark off and carve a wood spirit. However, the time and the distance from the highway to the tree calling someone to "Come on over", didn't allow my woodcarver husband to get his hands on that awesome bark on the trees. When we run out of Cottonwood trees in Lyon County, a road trip to Russell County might be in the making.

Here are some awesome wood spirits carved from Cottonwood Trees that Mother Nature gave us the opportunity to find.

This is the Foundwood Carvings Home Page which talks about the Cottonwood Tree and Millard's inspiration to carve because of his great uncle, J.T. Harrell and his customer friends.

I'm sure this short distance after turning left to go to Paradise brings back many memories to each of you.

The sight of the water tower in the distance and the beautiful green trees just gave us a wonderful feeling of being almost back home.

We decided to turn on the street before getting to the Paradise "exit" so we could go down the street where Millard grew up and drive around town.

It was a beautiful day, lovely weather and the scenery was gorgeous in the lovely small town of Paradise, KS.
This is a view of Dan and Mona Hoisington's home from the back in the distance.
