Albert McNeal of Dundee died July 2, 2010. He was 63.
He was born Jan. 27, 1947, in Waldo, Kan., to Dennis and Maureen McNeal.
He grew up on the family farm and graduated in 1965 from Paradise High School in Paradise, Kan.

He majored in agricultural education at Kansas State University and in 1971 attended a graduate Bible studies program at Multnomah Bible College in Portland.
He worked in the feed mills at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., from 1972 to 1977, and was a member of the Navigators ministry on campus.

Albert married Carrie Thompson on Aug. 23, 1975 in Seattle. They they made their home in Beaverton, where he worked for the Carnation mills.
In 1979 they moved to Newberg, where he operated the Easter Joy Acres farm, raising rabbits and draft horses. He also worked for Stanton Industries as a warehouse manager from 1983 to 1994.

He moved to Dundee in 1983, and retired in 1994 following a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease in 1991.

He enjoyed buying and selling used books, gardening, raising rabbits and making walking sticks.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where he was a church elder, small group leader and member of the children’s ministry and AWANA club. He also served as church custodian.

Following his diagnosis, he founded Parkinson’s support groups in Portland and Yamhill County.

A memorial service was held Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Smithwick officiating.

Parkinson’s Center of Oregon, 3181 Sam Jackson Road, Portland OR 97201.

Albert was a music student of mine - a very fine young man, one that I could always depend on.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the McNeal family during this time of sorrow.
