GOOD PICTURE FOR CONVERSATION

What is the story behind this photo?

This is a picture that was in our trunk that had nothing written on the back (like a lot of other pictures).
It is a neat picture and I'm sure that it has some great stories behind it.

Does anyone have a picture similar to this that is labeled?

PARADISE PRAIRIE RANCH

In Feb. we emailed Dan and Jim
and asked if this link was the Eulert Ranch.

http://www.paradiseprairieranch.com/

Dan replied . . . . . . "Yes that is it. Our farm borders it on the southeast."

Jim replied . . . . . . "It looks like it. I know it was sold when dad was ill. It was around 4,000 acres. The house looks like the one Ott and Elsie lived in. The picture would be taken from the North to North east. Almost like you were coming down the road. The guy that bought it was from Hill City, Stockton or somewhere in that direction. If you read through it, it talks about more acreage in Trego county."

Norman Hutchcraft is in the second row, second from the left.

I received an email from Norma Hutchcraft Williams, June 26th. I really appreciate the email's I receive from each of you. That is the only way I know that you have seen this blog. Thank You Norma.

Feel free to email me if you don't want to try the Comment method.

The High School, the old Methodist Church,

MEMORIES FROM PAT

Pat wrote out some good memories in her Comments under Van and Millard's cowboy picture.
I decided to post them here, in case some of you are not clicking on Comments.

"The one on the left was a lot more in trouble then the one on the right. Millard wasn't a person that was in trouble. Van was another story....? Of course I was an angel ha ha.

I didn't know they had fixed up the Brown house that nice its really pretty. Elaine and I was good buds and had lots of fun.

Dan Hoisington responded in a comment under Dean Brown's Home . . . . . .

"My Nephew had the porch rebuilt and refinished the interior. Also added a finished attic with 2 bedrooms. He still needs to do the kitchen which is being worked on now."

Pat responded in a comment below

My Brother Delphan was born in that house. Did you know the Hoopes family lived there at one time, but that was when Mom and Dad had only one child. Eight of us came later.. Brown House .. Pat

Pat also commented under the Dean Brown Home

Don't know whether you all got this message but My older Brother Delphan Hoopes was born in that Brown house as it stands. Who would of thunk a Hoopes born in a Brown house. Did you know the Hoopes lived there at one time???? Delphan is 10 years older then me and he is like a second dad to me.Pat

He is in front of the old Post Office and the house between the boy and the Post Office, in the back is Jon Bach's.

What do you remember about Jon Bach?

I received an email from Pat Hoopes Preston. She had some interesting thoughts that each of you probably remember.
Click on Comments.

A NEAT PICTURE

This picture was taken in 1914.
This is a photo of Dick Harrell (Millard's Dad) and his friend, "the mule".
Don't know whether he rode the mule or not.
Is there anyone out there that saw Dick ride it?
I doubt it. You would have to be at least 94.
Just asking!!!!

HARRELL FARMSTEAD

The Harrell Farmstead
East of The Church of the Nazarene

To the Students that were in HS when I (Onnalee) was teaching?
Remember when Mrs. Ochs (teacher) and her kids came to school smelling like a skunk?
They lived in the above house and evidently they were invaded by a skunk family.

What happened?
My memory is that Mr McCabe made them go home until they could rid themselves of the skunk smell. The HS building collected their smell very rapidly.
