DEAN BROWN HOME

I received this photo of the Dean Brown home from Travis Angel today.

Travis wrote . . . .
"Hey Onnalee: I took this picture of the Brown house in Paradise a few years ago. It's such a nice house and in such good shape. Since you are pretty much the expert on everything in Paradise, do you happen to know much about the history behind it? When was it built? Who built it? And so on. I would appreciate it. Thank you, Travis"

Travis,
First of all . . . I am not the expert on everything about Paradise. I am able to publish information on this blog because of all of the experts that send it to me.
Your questions are very interesting and I am sure that we have some readers that may have an answer and/or comment. Thank You for the photo and your questions. Onnalee

I had posted the below pictures of the Brown home in June, 2008. I thought it would be interesting to see all of the photos together.
Dan Hoisington took the photos below.

THE DEAN BROWN HOME

This was first posted in June - 20008

I emailed Dan Hoisington this morning for more photo's. I thought we had several pictures of the Dean Brown Home as we took several of it last year on Memorial Day. I can not figure out what happened to them. We had a Computer thief, I guess, as I would NEVER delete anything that I wanted to keep. Ha! Sometimes technology just does wierd things that I can not keep up with.

Isn't the close up to the entry way neat?
I would imagine that there are some very good stories about that. I do not remember it looking like this when I was teaching in Paradise.

Thanks Dan for taking the pictures so quickly.
An A+ for promptness.

Another A+ for the excellent pictures.

Do you suppose he feels guilty about being so ornery in school?

As you will notice in the comments below, Devin Strecker has a video with photos of the Brown home in it.

WOODSPIRIT FOR SMOKY HILLS PUBLIC TELEVISION

DORENE CHRISLER
BOUGHT THE SUNFLOWER WOOD SPIRIT
FOR THE SMOKY HILL PUBLIC TELEVISION
ANNUAL FUNDRAISING AUCTION TONIGHT.
THANK YOU DORENE!

This woodcarving is a donation to the Smoky Hills Public Television, Bunker Hill, KS, for their annual fundraising auction.

This carving in Cottonwood Bark of a wood spirit incorporates the Sunflowers to make it a true spirit of the rare central Kansas wooded areas: the Cottonwood tree being the state tree and the Sunflower being the state flower.

Approximately 120 items will be auctioned during their live broadcast, April 17 and 18, 2010 from the Mall of Hays.

"As a boy growing up in northern Russell county, I can recall the special magical feeling of being in the presence of tree spirits, as I spent time walking along Paradise and Eagle Creeks. Growing up in Northern Central Kansas, with generally few trees, the cool shade and woody smells and sounds that are experienced as one walks among the large red oak trees that line the Paradise and Eagle Creeks, truly provide a back drop for one to conjure up the idea that he is in the presence of Wood Spirits."

MEN VS WOMEN

Just a little something different!
I hope you will get a chuckle out of these.

Men/Women

Men's Brains & Women's Brains
Watch the above link first.

The caption for this photo is . . . .
"And thus, Dear Students -
We have arrived at the formula for
understanding women."

MEN'S SPEECH PATTERNS

1. "I can't find it"
MEANS: It didn't fall into my outstretched hands, so I am completely clueless.

2. "That's women's work"
MEANS: It's difficult, dirty, and thankless.

3. "Will you marry me?"
MEANS: Both of my roommates have moved out, I can't find the washer, and there's no peanut butter left.

4. "It's a guy thing."
MEANS: There's no rational thought pattern connected with it, and you have no chance at all of making it logical.

5. "Can I help with dinner?"
MEANS: Why isn't it already on the table?

6. "It would take too long to explain"
MEANS: I have no idea how it works.

7. "I'm getting more exercise lately"
MEANS: The batteries in the remote are dead.

8. "We're going to be late."
MEANS: I have a legitimate reason for driving like a maniac.

9. "Take a break, honey, you're working too hard."
MEANS: I can't hear the game over the vacuum cleaner.

10. "That's interesting dear."
MEANS: Are you still talking?

11. "Honey, we don't need material things to prove our love."
MEANS: I forgot our anniversary again.

12. "You expect too much from me."
MEANS: You expect me to stay awake?

13. "It's really a good movie."
MEANS: It's got guns, knives, fast cars, and naked women.

14. "You know how bad my memory is."
MEANS: I remember the words to the theme song of F-Troop, the address of the first girl I kissed, and the vehicle identification number of every car I've ever owned, but I forgot your birthday.

15. "I was just thinking about you, and got you these roses."
MEANS: The girl selling them on the corner was a real babe, and was wearing a thong bikini.

16. "Oh, don't fuss, I just cut myself, it's no big deal."
MEANS: I have actually severed a limb, but will bleed to death before I admit I'm hurt.

17. "Hey, I've got reasons for what I'm doing."
MEANS: What did you catch me at?

18. "She's one of those rabid feminists."
MEANS: She refused to make my coffee.

19. "I heard you."
MEANS: I haven't the foggiest clue what you just said, and hope I can fake it well enough, so that you don't spend the next three days yelling at me.

20. "You know I could never love anyone else."
MEANS: I am used to the way YOU yell at me, and realize it could be worse.

21. "You really look terrific in that outfit."
MEANS: Please don't try on one more outfit, I'm starving.

22. "I brought you a present."
MEANS: It was free ice scraper night at the ball/hockey game.

23. "I missed you."
MEANS: I can't find my sock drawer, the kids are hungry, and we're out of toilet paper.

24. "I'm not lost, I know exactly where we are."
MEANS: No one will ever see us alive again.

25. "This relationship is getting too serious."
MEANS: I like you almost as much as I like my truck.

26. "I don't need to read the instructions."
MEANS: I am perfectly capable of screwing it up without printed help.

STEVE & MADONNA BEALBY WILL CELEBRATE THEIR 40TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

CONGRATULATIONS
STEVE & MADONNA BEALBY

The children of
Steve and Madonna Bealby

Lanelle & Sam Wagner
David Bealby
Alicia & Eric Steinheider
sent
Anniversary Wishes

to their parents
Steve & Madonna

Dear Family & Friends,
Our parents, Steve and Madonna Bealby,
celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary
April 11th!
We are guessing you are not surprised that they have been happily married for 40 years, as they seem to do so with such grace. As their children, we could not be more blessed to have parents that are so in love. It really is amazing - this example of marriage they have given to those around them. We feel so fortunate to have such incredible parents.
A note from Onnalee

I, personally, am very proud of Steve. He was a student of mine in high school - as ornery as they come. As a music teacher, Steve along with Dan Hoisington, kept me on my toes and through the many experiences with their never endless pranks, I was taught how to teach and discipline at the same time, which carried through in my teaching until 2000. Thank You Steve & Danny and . . . . . Terry Martin and . . . . Mike Moreland . . . . and Denton Whitman and . . . . . . I won't continue. You know who you are.
I would add Glen Strecker, as he was right in the middle of anything done - except he was not a student. Hmmm! I will always think of him as a student as he was always right there.

JESUS' OBITUARY - GOOD FRIDAY

Good Friday is the Friday within Holy Week, and is traditionally a time of fasting and penance, commemorating the anniversary of Christ's crucifixion and death.
For Christians, Good Friday commemorates not just a historical event, but the sacrificial death of Christ, which with the resurrection, comprises the heart of the Christian faith.
