CIMARRON, Kansas – Glenda May Hutchcraft, 79, died Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Shepherd’s Center, Cimarron. She was born June 20, 1937 at Hays the daughter of Norman and Ruth May (Burger) Hutchcraft.
She was educated in Paradise Schools, completing the ninth grade. After leaving school, Glenda continued to learn by reading voraciously. She has an amazing vocabulary and imagination. She delighted her nieces and nephews and had a wonderful memory for all their birthday’s and ages. She attended church at the Paradise Church of the Nazarene and maintained a strong faith all of her life.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and until recent years enjoyed calling old friends and relatives on the phone. Over the years her vision failed her but she enjoyed talking, singing, playing the harmonica and taking care of her doll.
In the late 1970’s life at home became difficult for Glenda and she moved to a nursing home in Russell. From there she moved to facilities in Pratt and Medicine Lodge. She eventually lived at and was employed by Arrowhead West in Dodge City. For the last nine years she has resided at The Shepherd’s in Cimarron.
Survivors include: her 3 siblings, Dwain Hutchcraft and wife Carol, Buena Vista, Colorado, Gerald Hutchcraft and wife Juliet, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Norma Williams and husband Jim, Canton, Ohio; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, all whom she was very interested in; and Shirley Ellis, who has been her faithful friend and house mate for years.

Memorial services were at 3:00 pm Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Shepherd’s Center with David Johnson officiating.
Cremation has taken place. Inurnment was at 1:00 pm Friday in the Mount Hermon Cemetery, Paradise, Kansas.
The family suggests memorials to the Shepherd’s Center in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 446, Cimarron, Kansas 67835.
