Orval Otte
1913 - 2010
Orval Otte, 97, died Nov. 30 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend. Born Sept. 13, 1913, at Great Bend, he was the son of W.C. and Georgia Mae (Miller) Otte. He married Helen Genevieve Taylor on Aug. 16, 1936, at Great Bend. She died April 17, 1970. He married Edra Mae (Brown) Hudnall on Oct. 29, 1971, at Great Bend. She died Sept. 8, 2007. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was a farmer and stockman.
Mr. Otte was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Great Bend. He was a former member and manager of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1127 of Great Bend.
Survivors include
one son, Lynn Otte and wife Anne of Herington;
a stepson, Harold Hudnall and wife Velda of Great Bend;
three daughters, Joyce Reid and husband Henry of Bella Vista, Ark., Jean Landon and husband Jimmy of Winfield, and Eileen Johnson and husband John of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.;
three stepdaughters, Karen Hudnall Jakub and husband Keith of Derby, Connie Hudnall Jahnke and husband Bill of Tucson, Ariz., and Dorothy Hudnall Wilson of Lincoln, Neb.;
24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Henry Otte, Wilmer Miller Otte and Loyal Ellis Otte.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Todd Hudnall officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Donations to a memorial fund for First Congregational United Church of Christ may be made in care of the funeral home.
