HUTCHCRAFT COUSIN REUNION - AUG 10, 11 & 12, 2012

I received an email from Norma Hutchcraft Williams on Aug 16, 2012 telling us about their family reunion.
What a neat family reunion - 3 days in Kennewic, Washington.

From Norma . . . .
"On August 10, 11 and 12th the Hutchcraft Cousin Reunion was held in Kennewic, Washington.
Three Paradise alumni were present as well as three children of Paradise alumni. They were Barbara Nigh, Lompoc, CA, and her sister Linda Woerner (husband John), Jewell, KS. They are the daughters of Ewing Hutchcraft (Class of '29 and Florence Saunders Hutchcraft (Class Sponsor '35). Three children of Norman Hutchcraft (Class of '30) were present: Dwain (Class of '54) and wife, Carol; Gerald (Class of '56) and wife, Juliet; and Norma (Class of '61) and husband, Jim. The hosts were Gary Hutchcraft and wife, Nettie of Kennewic. Gary is the son of Virgil Hutchcraft (Class of '35).
.
The reunion started on Friday morning with a jet boat ride 40 miles up the Columbia River to the Hanford Reach area. The Hanford Reach is an area that was taken over by the government in 1942 to produce the plutonium necessary for the Manhattan Project which ultimately ended World War II. Those facilities are now being cleaned up and the buildings "cocooned" or sealed. Of course the area is very secure but you cannot see the security from the river. It just appears to be nothing but wide open spaces inhabited by deer, pelicans, herons, coyotes, etc.
.
Saturday was spent shopping for souvenirs or antiques followed by supper, the usual family history quiz and the passing of the traveling "trophy", a moonshine jug. Sunday was spent in church and watching a movie about Mount St. Helen's eruption.
.
Every odd numbered year our reunion is held in Kansas. It's always a good time.
.
Thanks again and "yes", you may put this on the blog.
