Delbert Eugene Landis
1916-2013
Delbert (Deb) Eugene Landis, 97, Wichita, formerly of
Fairport went to be with his heavenly father and his bride of nearly 71 years on
Monday, October 07, 2013, at the Life Care Center of Wichita.
He was born
March 16, 1916, in Rose Hill to David Delta and Alta Mary (Gagan) Landis. His
family moved to Fairport,
Kansas in 1925 where he attended
grade and high school. He was a pumper for Sohio Oil Company (Standard Oil of
Ohio) until his retirement in 1975. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving at the
end of WWII and a member of the American Legion.
He married Veta Lorene
Robertson on September 7, 1940 and they lived in Fairport until 2002 when they
moved to Russell until 2011. They then moved to Wichita to be near their daughter
Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 71 years, Veta, his
parents, 4 brothers, Waldo, Francis (Jiggs), Ardine and Russell, one sister
Talma. He was also preceded in death by 2 sons, D. Charles and Delmar
Landis.
Survivors include his daughter Virginia Maddox and husband
Kenneth, Wichita: son Donald Landis, Bethany, OK; three grandsons David Maddox, Dale Maddox
and David Landis; one granddaughter Denise Maddox; numerous great-grandchildren
and great-great grandchildren and many friends.
Funeral services will be
at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral
Home, 1906 Pine. Burial will be in the Fairport Cemetery, located eleven miles north of Gorham, Kansas. The family will receive friends from
9:30 am until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences may be

Our hearts and our prayers go out to Don (Class of 1963) and Virginia (Class of 1961).
This has been such a difficult 2 years for them.
